About Liberty Wooden Flagpoles

Welcome to our website.

Liberty Wooden Flagpoles is a division of Marine Restoration and Salvage, which is owned and operated by principal builder Suzanne Leahy.

Since we started in 1999, we have had the good fortune to work with several area high school students. They have filled our seasonal labor needs beyond our expectations with their enthusiasm, eagerness and energy. We have also worked with incredibly talented professional boat builders and woodworkers who have helped on specific projects ranging from spar lay-ups to restoration projects to custom boat building.

We began building flagpoles in response to a request by some local shopkeepers and homeowners. We quickly realized that flagpoles can be built and shipped anywhere, and as a result, Liberty Wooden Poles was conceived. The demand has been phenomenal. We have shipped as far away as California and Bermuda, and have worked on very involved projects such as the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the cities of Toledo, Ohio and Newport, Rhode Island to name a few, as well as many businesses and private homes.

Since we began, we have sought to improve our fabrication techniques and investigate better methods of construction, adhesives, and sources for wood and finishes. We have subjected our poles to a series of stress load calculations. The results confirm that our unique building process will result in a stronger, longer lasting flagpole.

In early 2006, we completed the construction of a 2400 square foot addition bringing the total shop space to 4800 square feet. The woodshop is fully equipped to handle many diverse projects. We added a 56-foot lathe and have the capacity to turn up to but not limited to a 14" X 56-foot flagpole.

We are very excited about this new stage of our business growth. The possibilities are incredible, as we focus on our business plan of growth coupled with quality and craftsmanship.
